The 144th Midwinter Meeting will be held at McCormick Place Thursday-Sunday, Feb. 26-March 1, 2009. The Exhibit Hall will be open Friday-Sunday, Feb. 27-March 1. Pre-registration runs through Jan. 31, 2009.

Attendees may download CE certificates for courses taken during the 2008 Midwinter Meeting. There is a $25 charge per CE certificate. Attendees may still obtain CE certificates for the 2005-2008 Midwinter Meetings.

Regional Meetings are FREE to all CDS members and their auxiliaries, as well as dental hygienist members of the Illinois State Dental Society. A fee of $250 is charged to dentists and their staff who are not CDS  members, which may be applied to membership for the current year. Advance registration is not required.

***It may take several days for CDS to coordinate dues payment records with the Illinois State Dental Society and our Midwinter Meeting registration vendor. If you plan to attend the Midwinter Meeting and have paid your 2009 dues recently, please allow 3-4 days processing time before pre-registering online. Plan ahead. Don't put off paying your dues until the pre-registration deadline or you will not be able to pre-register for the Midwinter Meeting online for free.

CDS offers new Workers Compensation insurance benefit

CDS has reached agreements with Accident Fund Insurance Company of America and the Southpoint Insurance Agency for the endorsement of the WorkSafe Partners Group Dividend Program for Workers Compensation insurance. This new benefit will allow CDS members to obtain a 5% up-front discount and make them eligible to receive a back-end dividend if they elect to participate in the program.

Thomas Sullivan elected as ADA second vice president

The American Dental Association House of Delegates Oct. 19 elected long-time Chicago Dental Society member Thomas Sullivan second vice president of the ADA during the Annual Session in San Antonio. Dr. Sullivan, who practices in Westchester, defeated Lisa Howard, of Maine.

Dr. Sullivan served as president of the Illinois State Dental Society in 2003 and has been active in the ADA as a volunteer.  Dr. Howard is a past president of the Maine Dental Association.

Dr. Sullivan was installed as second vice president at the final session of the House Oct. 20.
