Midwinter Meeting


The 144th Chicago Dental Society Midwinter Meeting
February 26 - March 1, 2009

The Midwinter Meeting offers one of the largest dental exhibitions in the United States. In 2009, expect to meet with representatives from more than 600 manufacturers, dealers, suppliers and labs participating (view exhibitors). Many exhibitors use the Midwinter Meeting as the setting for new product introductions and offer special incentives during the Midwinter Meeting.

Registration

  • Scientific Programs are conducted Thursday, Feb. 26, through Sunday, March 1, 2009.
  • The Exhibit Hall is open Friday, Feb. 27, through Sunday, March 1, 2009. The Exhibit Hall is located at Level 3, Hall D:
    Friday & Saturday: 9 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
    Sunday: 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
  • Scientific Exhibits are open Thursday, Feb. 26, through Sunday, March 1, 2009. The Scientific Exhibits are located at Level 3, Lakeside Ballroom:
    Thursday - Saturday: 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
    Sunday: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Table Clinics are located at Level 3, Lakeside Ballroom:
    Thursday, Feb 26: 10:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
    Friday, Feb. 27: 10:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • Check course descriptions for staggered times for courses: Courses start at 8:30, 9 and 9:30 a.m. and at 1:30 and 2 p.m.
  • Reserve your seat for Free (F) Courses by pre-registering.
  • Look for classroom numbers in your Official Program, available onsite only.

Tickets are required for all special events, whether or not there is a fee attached. Please make certain to order your special event tickets at the same time you order your scientific program tickets.

Honorees

Gordon J. Christensen Lecturer Award

Barry K. Freydberg, who practices in Skokie, IL, is the 2009 recipient of the Gordon J. Christensen Recognition Lecturer Award. Established in 1990, the award acknowledges Dr. Christensen’s many outstanding contributions to the dental profession and the Midwinter Meeting. Dr. Freydberg, who served as Program Chair for the 2002 Midwinter Meeting, will receive the Christensen Award during the Opening Session on Thursday, Feb. 26, for his many contributions to the profession.

Cushing Award Recipient

Dr. Steven Perlman, Global Clinical Advisor for Special Smiles, is the 2009 Cushing Award recipient. The award honors those who raise public awareness about oral health issues. Dr. Perlman, associate clinical professor of pediatric dentistry at the Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine, is a committed advocate of health care for people with intellectual disabilities. The Special Smiles program, which he founded in 1993, has grown under his direction to include more events each year in nearly every state in the U.S. and in 40 countries worldwide.

Attendees may download CE certificates for courses taken during the 2008 Midwinter Meeting. There is a $25 charge per CE certificate . Attendees may still obtain CE certificates for the 2005-2007 Midwinter Meetings for a fee of $25 per CE certificate.
